Formaspace CEO Speaks About Impact of Higher Energy Prices
July 7, 2008 – Formaspace Technical Furniture CEO Jeff Turk recently spoke with the Austin Business Journal about steps Formaspace is taking to combat higher energy prices. Formaspace has been a longtime advocate of sustainable business practices, and took the opportunity to highlight measures that encourage sustainability while simultaneously reducing costs for clients and Formaspace coworkers. Formaspace has not raised prices or instituted energy surcharges as a result of recent increases in energy prices.
“Formaspace has reduced its energy intensity through the workbench life cycle substantially in the past two years by investing in greener vehicles and machinery and sourcing materials locally,” said Formaspace CEO Jeff Turk. “Additionally, we encourage our coworkers to reduce energy consumption by offering coworkers cash rebates for purchasing high efficiency vehicles and providing CFL light bulbs and other benefits, and we negotiate with our shippers to reduce their consumption by using more direct shipping to our clients. We are fortunate that as a result, Formaspace has not had to increase prices or add surcharges for workbench furniture as many others have.”
